本作は昼は俳優業をこなし、夜は酒場へと繰り出す主人公・北見優作が、訪れる店で魅力的なマドンナたちと酒を酌み交わす物語。うまい酒と気ままな肴を愛し食べて飲み、マドンナに心惑わされながらたそがれる52歳のバツイチ俳優の姿を描く。。A shipowner intends to scuttle his ship on its last voyage to get the insurance money. Charlie, a tramp in love with the owner's daughter, is grabbed by the captain and promises to help him shanghai some seamen. The daughter stows away to follow Charlie. Charlie assists in the galley and attempts to serve food during a gale.。
