《乱世烟雨》由黎冷担任编剧，围绕民国初年孙中山发动第一次革命为背景，演绎郑、丁两家为救亡图存走上革命道路的历史故事。郑家主人郑佑德，与丁家老夫人的祖父同在太平军中从事反清活动。石达开死后，郑家与丁家祖父均被官府逮捕， 郑家祖父被处死，丁家祖父则被总督留作私人医生。据此，郑家确认丁家祖父出卖了郑家祖父，从此解下仇恨。以丁家三少爷丁成文在俩家搏杀中的成长为基础，在丁家与郑家博弈中，郑家，家毁人亡；丁家，大伤元气。丁成文实业救国的理想破灭，最后他决定跟随革命青年曾成和杨先生去寻找真正的救国之路。。The film is based loosely around events in December 1995 that culminated in the murders of three drug dealers in Rettendon, Essex, UK.
