"Daughters of the Dust" tells the story of a family of African-Americans who have lived for many years on a Southern offshore island, and of how they come together one day in 1902 to celebrate their ancestors before some of them leave for the North. The film is narrated by an unborn child, and ancestors already dead also seem to be as present as the living.。60 年代食物短缺，六岁秦念念因父亲秦向东参军，被托付给村民。父亲离开后，她遭恶毒婶子凌虐致死。秦念念不甘重活，觉醒随身空间，决心找父亲团圆并教训恶婶。后来，她不仅帮父亲解决粮食危机，还促成了父母的爱情。。
