本片讲述了6段烈日中的爱情故事：香港的中年司机（张学友 饰）因故结识了深圳的洗脚妹（刘若英 饰），两人日久生情；深圳，Wasabi（徐若瑄 饰）一直苦等酱油师傅（吴彦祖 饰）对爱的回应，但对方却心怀苦衷；香港，海滩卖遮阳伞的大叔（刘家辉 饰）推销笑话，但内心始终牵挂着亡妻；深圳，修理工阿威（谢霆锋 饰）邂逅了飞车女（徐熙媛 饰）碰撞出了火花；北京摄影师（段奕宏 饰）对模特的表现不满，后者负气离去，而他却突然失明，在助手（付辛博 饰）的陪伴下，他们追到深圳，各怀心事；20年前的镇江，乡下男孩（井柏然 饰）爱慕纺织女工（Angelababy 饰），并接受了在烈日下苦等100天的爱情誓约……。在一场艺术品拍卖会上，汤姆（丹尼斯·霍珀 Dennis Hopper 饰）遇见了名为乔纳森（布鲁诺·甘茨 Bruno Ganz 饰）的男人。乔纳森患有血液方面的疾病，这对于他那并不富裕的家庭来说无异于雪上加霜。黑手党找到了汤姆希望他能够帮他们完成一项暗杀任务，不愿意铤而走险的汤姆想到了乔纳森。 汤姆向乔纳森保证，如果后者能够代替他完成任务，那么汤姆的家庭将会得到一大笔的报酬，与此同时，汤姆贿赂了乔纳森的主治医师，两人合伙蒙骗了乔纳森，让他以为自己的病情发生了急速恶化。就这样，心中充满了痛苦和绝望的乔纳森走上了一条不归路，而看着乔纳森苦苦挣扎的模样，汤姆的心中竟然也产生了一种说不清道不明的情绪。。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
